Second hand birthday presents and what not

Recently i was bought a Wacom BAMBOO pen & touch for my birthday, its an inventive way of drawing and saves a lot of time for people such as illustrators who traditionally would have had to scan in the image and then further manipulate on various applications such as photoshop and etc. I don't particularly like mixing art with technology i believe it can make the artist "lazy", and that it does not express as much skill. Meaning that the program would do all of the hard work for you an example would be colour mixing. But from having this piece of technology ive experienced quite the difference and now im even intrigued into developing my skills on photoshop and the tablet.                                                         Heres an example of my first attempt.

Yes i did trace it, evidence of this is the bright green lines you see. Ive decided to stop developing this piece as it was a trial for myself where i was just playing around with brush sizes and colour to see what effects i could produce.

Marxist Theory and Essay notes

-CONSUMERISM + SELF IMAGE

"The bourgeois cannot exist without constantly revolutionising the instruments of production" - Marx

"It is not the consciousness of men that determine their being but on the contray their social being that determines their consciousness" - Marx

"The less you are the more you have; the less you express your own life the greater is your alienated life - the greater is the store of your estranged being" - Marx
The above quote summarise the points i was trying to explain and expand on within my essay.

"Truman's fear of leaving this invented world, once he realizes it is a fraud, is similarly like our own reluctance to break our symbiotic relationship with media"

Im not quite sure who actually wrote this but i will leave the link to the website in case anyone was interested in reading up more about the truman show.

Picture of my thought process and notes that i took during lectures. Whose reality is anyway? i enjoyed this lecture the most because i was genuinely interested in the theories before coming to university and so i plan to expand until i under stand fully.

Brave New World

I have recently taken up reading this book as it relates to my work practice and the ideas i will be exploring within visual culture. The themes explored relate to those made by Karl Marx and although the concept is quite complex your still able to relate it to modern day.
